Children of the 90s

This weekend my mom, step dad, and I went to a used book store. We stumbled upon a "You know you're Baby Boomer If..." type book and literally went through every single page. I would have to say they really know there stuff! Of course I clearly had no idea what any of the answers were, but it was hilarious watching them reminisce. We then started brain storming what a book like that would say from my childhood. And yes I was born in the awesome 80s, but since I only spent 4 years in that decade I consider myself a child of the 90s. So I put together a little list to remind ourselves of the incredible 90s....a they were incredible.

  1. Beanie Babies
  2. Teletubbies
  3. 7th Heaven
  4. Tomagatchi or Nano babies (Do you remember how there was only one clear one in each box delivered to the toy store?!? I totally got a green clear Tomogatchi. And it died...repeatedly).
  5. Game Boys
  6. Trapper Keepers (My sister had like 10. I was so jealous)
  7. Jansport Backpacks
  8. Doc Martins (why would we ever wear shoes that weighed 30 lbs?!?)
  9. WWJD bracelets (admit it...you had one in every color)
  10. Polly Pocket toys
  11. Sega Genesis
  12. Captain Planet (yeah go ahead and sing the theme song)
  13. Tickle Me Elmo (remember the Christmas those came out and women were killing other women in Wal-Marts just to get one?!?)
  14. NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys (You can't like them both....you must choose. My choice was NSYNC of course. I had the biggest crush on Lance - yeah I know how to pick 'em)
  15. Furby
  16. Slap Bracelets
  17. Clueless
  18. Macarena
  19. Roller blades
  20. Stretch Armstrong
  21. Talkboy (You might have needed to have older siblings to have owned one of these bad boys)
  22. Britney Spears
  23. Trolls
  24. Skip It
  25. Power Rangers
  26. Spice Girls.....(Spice up your life) + the Spice Girls Movie (wow)

  1. What about the show "California Dreaming?" I watched a youtube video of it the other day. I was in awe and baffled at the same time.

Also what about the JTT craze? Leo after Titanic?

  2. Sarah I LOVED California Dreaming! I didn't think anyone else watched that show. Haha I'm gonna need to Youtube that one. And of course...I was a loyal JTT lover. Nice additions to the list.

  3. Although I'm not a child of the 90's, I was with you through those years and your list brings back sweet memories. Contrary to what's popular, I liked both NSYNC & Backstreet Boys. I have a few nostalgic additions to your list to include Sweet Valley High, Boy Meets World, Teddy Ruxpin, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Xena Warrior Princess.

  4. HI!! So, I've been sneaking a peak at your blog lately. I gotta say, this one brought back some memories. First, Brotherly Love and those Lawrence brothers were fantastic. I'm pretty sure I remember you having a sweet spot for Matt Lawrence. :) Also, I vividly remember the boys and their hair with the frosted tips. I believe Jeff Stover would win "best frosted tips" if ever it was put to a vote. Last, the body glitter. I remember buying sticks of body glitter from Limited Too and literally rubbing it all over my arms and chest and face. I believe I was inspired by Drew Barrymore in Ever After. You know, when she went to the ball and had that glitter "mask" around her eyes. Stunning!! Although, something makes me think you weren't much of a fan of that movie. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, hope you're well! Miss you!

  5. Cara your memory is spot on! Yes I had a very sweet spot for Matt Lawrence, but I would always take Joey too ;) Stover definitely won best frosted tips. Real glad that fad went out. O yes the body glitter...your outfit was not complete until you had a full rub down with body glitter. Also glad that fad went away....that stuff was terrible when it got in your eye. You are absolutely right about Ever After. I hated that movie for years and years and years....and then I watched it recently (on ABC family I'm sure) and I LOVED it! I should have given it a bigger chance before. We need to reminisce again soon....
